Major Mah, Mayor of Taipei City, Republic of China, will be in Fremont to jog with participants in a run sponsored by the World Journal to call attention to youth problems such as drugs and smoking. The newspaper, a major Chinese newspaper in the US, is quite honored that the mayor has agreed to participate in the event. Mayor Mah will also be meeting with business leaders in Silicon Valley to promote business cooperation and opportunities between the ROC and the US.

We of Family Support for Healthy Minds, a support group for family members of persons living with mental illness, believe that drug use and smoking have a strong connection to mental health concerns. We are honored that the newspaper has invited us to participate in this important activity in order to increase awareness of our organization.

The World Journal hopes the Chinese community will show support for Mayor Mah and the jogging event. Since this is relatively short notice, we hope you will help us spread the word to ask your community to support this event. We want to show the general public that the Chinese community is very concerned about smoking and drug use among all youth and that we want to work to solve the problem and promote healthy minds.
